The action will streamline its support to the penitentiary system of North Macedonia towards ensuring sustainable application of the screening to signs of radicalization tool, risk and needs assessment tool and the individual rehabilitation approach to violent extremist prisoners (VEPs). It will also provide training on the application of standard operating procedure for preparation for release and the post penal support in a multi-stakeholder environment. The Prison Staff Training Centre will be supported in revision of its training modules on radicalisation and violent extremism and development of strategic approach to make the trainings continuous and sustainable. The action will also provide expertise in development of a staff management plan. There are many other double dares that North Macedonia is facing, among which are communication and exchange of information and intelligence between different institutions and agencies, overburdened human resources in prisons, lack of coordination between multidisciplinary teams, investment of reintegration support at the local level etc., which the action will address through its regional dimension.
