Bosnia and Herzegovina Specific Component

The action will enable Bosnia and Herzegovina learn about best practices in effective use of conditional/early release, community sanctions and measures and explore possibility of application of these institutes on violent extremist offenders, including women offenders. It will enable education of trustees (mentors of prisoners on conditional release/community sanctioned) on how to work with targeted end beneficiaries and provide best practices and modalities to setting up of a model of probation service. Other challenges that Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing pertaining to: establishing of precondition for continuous training of prison staff in management of VEPs and radicalisation, structured approach to protection of the mental health of VEPs or prisoners prone to radicalisation influences because of their vulnerability, increasing opportunities and access to formal and informal education within prison system, multi-agency approach to provide effective support for VEPs - strengthening cooperation between prisons and local communities to achieve effective rehabilitation, reintegration, and resocialization will be addressed through the action at the regional level.
